Why do we fear of making a mistake?

There is a long standing discussion about how we make decisions. The process of deliberation is usually lengthy for most of us however the point when a commitment is made is fairly quick. Does it happen through logic though or are we more inclined to make emotional choices?

Number one reason for delayed consideration is fear of making a mistake. No-one likes to be wrong.

This indecision stops us from seeing multitude of possibilities that we have not thought of, that we have not reasoned with and that we have not judged and rejected or accepted.

I’m a professional procrastinator in that department.

I am notoriously good at avoiding risk of making a mistake by rationalising all my choices. If you consider all the possibilities you stay safely within a sphere of knowing where you are and how things ‘may’ pan out. There is no risk of losing.

But the problem with this attitude is that your vision is limited by your own limitations. No matter what happens there is a valid justification or explanation that works.

Or is it just an excuse of not letting yourself to be limitless?
